Steamworks Steam Engine Lager

In 2001, I attended the UCI World Cup Mountain Bike Race in
Durango, Colorado. The Downtown Time Trial at that year's event
went right through the Steamworks Brewery.
The latest beer to come from Steamworks is their Steam Engine
Lager. They describe the beer as, “An American classic, noted for
its malt sweetness and hop spice with a smooth, dry finish, the
Steam Engine Lager is arguably the best American-style amber
lager in the world.” Their description is pretty accurate.
Steam Engine has full hop flavor, but manages to dodge the bitter
finish common to many hoppy beers. I’d say the the Steam Engine
is an amber ale in lager clothing. Try one for yourself after your
next ride!
